
Stephen Payne

Stephen Payne was born at Richmond Hospital in 1958 and has proudly lived and worked in the Hawkesbury his entire life. After attending St Monica’s Primary, Marist Brothers Parramatta, and Richmond High, Stephen began his career with the Commonwealth Bank in Richmond before moving into transport and postal services.
In 1989, he joined the New South Wales Fire Brigades, where he has built a distinguished 36-year career. Now a Station Officer at a local station, Stephen is respected for his leadership, professionalism, and dedication to community safety.
A lifelong sportsman, Stephen is a former state titleholder in motorcycle Enduro racing, representing Australia in international events across Europe. He also managed and mentored riders to international success.
An accomplished endurance athlete, Stephen has competed in the Hawaiian Ironman, World Duathlon and Triathlon Championships, and completed two English Channel swims—one alongside his son Michael—along with several other international marathon swims.
Stephen has held leadership roles with local clubs including the Hawkesbury Motorcycle Club, Windsor Swim Club, and Nepean Triathlon Club, where he is a Life Member. His lifelong service and integrity make him a valued Director of the Richmond Club.
